Ms. Penton was born and raised in Boise, Idaho and graduated from Boise High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Idaho. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University Of Idaho College Of Law in 1996.

Mahala earned her degree from Boise State University, where she gained essential knowledge in legal principles, research, and analytical thinking that directly inform her work in legal practice.
Mahala is a certified mediator and successfully mediated for the Ada County Court systems in their small claims and eviction courts. She is detail-oriented mindset and a strong communicator, which helped her successfully facilitate fair and efficient resolutions for participants in the legal system.

Veronica Rizo-Mares, Paralegal
Veronica Rizo-Mares is a seasoned paralegal with over 18 years of experience in the legal field. She has lived in Idaho her entire life, primarily in the Caldwell and Nampa areas, and began her paralegal career in October 2009 in Caldwell, Idaho.
Veronica attended Brown Mackie College, where she graduated in November 2010 with an Associate’s Degree in Science and a Certificate in Paralegal Studies. Throughout her career, she has gained experience working on criminal cases, personal injury matters, and workers’ compensation cases, with the majority of her professional experience focused in family law.
She has been a commissioned notary for much of her career, serving in that capacity for at least 12 years. Veronica has always been drawn to family law, as it allows her to approach her work with empathy and understanding. Her own life experiences have enabled her to connect with clients on a deeper level and advocate for them with compassion and care.
Veronica is currently excited to expand her legal knowledge into immigration law, an area she holds close to her heart. She is passionate about helping others navigate complex legal processes and looks forward to being part of work that supports and empowers individuals and families.
Outside of her professional life, Veronica loves spending time with her family, camping and enjoys traveling to the Oregon Coast, which is one of her favorite places to visit and vacation.
